I'd avoid any face tattoos. The star thing can look neat on some people, but like you said, not too great on most 40-year-olds. I have a tattoo on my arm though. It's on the inside of my forearm, an ampersand. & Just because. I can hide it easily enough and it isn't too large so when I'm older, not a big deal. Also that area of my body won't change much, so even if I get wrinkly or fat eventually when I'm older (hopefully not fat. Probably not) it won't change much. And because it's completely meaningless, I won't get tired of what it means to me. It's just a little icon on my arm for a bit of uniqueness.
